University of Jaffna Education Info

 

The university has two grounds - the main university in Thirunelvely in Jaffna and a second university in Vavuniya. It also has features in Kilinochchi, Kaithady and Maruthanarmadam near Chunnakam. The university currently has nine ability (Agriculture, Used Technology, Artistry, Company Research, Technological innovation, Graduate college student Research, Control Research & Company, Medication and Science) and nine other educational facilities. The university offers numerous undergrad and postgrad programs which prize a wide range of levels such as BA, BBA, BBM, BCom, BFA, BICT, B.Pharm, BSc, BSc(Agr), LLB, MA, MEd, MBBS and MSc.

The university had 5,721 learners and 1,192 workers this year. It is the 8th biggest university in Sri Lanka with regards to college student figures. In 2010/11 the university confessed 1,581 undergraduates.The university had a repeated price range of Rs. 827 thousand and a investment price range of Rs. 316 thousand this year. Its income this year was Rs. 1,159 thousand of which 99% was allow from the govt in Colombo.

The chancellor and vice-chancellor of the university are teachers M. Sivasuriya and Vasanthy Arasaratnam respectively. The university is a participant of the Organization of Earth Universities.

On 15 This summer 1974 Badi-ud-din Mahmud, Reverend of Knowledge and Pro-Chancellor of the School of Sri Lanka, announced that the 6th university of the School of Sri Lanka would be established in Jaffna. Dr. K. Kailasapathy, go of the Division of Tamil and Hindu studies of the Vidyalankara Campus of the School of Sri Lanka, was hired as the first Chief executive of the Jaffna Campus. Outstanding gazette no. 121/15 was already released on 25 This summer 1974 developing the Jaffna Campus The new university started performing on 1 Aug 1974 at the Parameswara College property in Thirunelvely some 4 km north of Jaffna town center. Parameswara College had been established in 1921 by P. Ramanathan.

The university had acceptance for three ability (Humanities, Law and Science) and one department (Physical Education) but only the Humanities and Technology ability were performing when the university started getting learners from Oct 1974. The Employees of Humanities and university management were centered at Thirunelvely but the Employees of Technology was centered at the undergrad area of Jaffna College, Vaddukoddai which had been taken over by the govt on 13 Aug 1974.

The Employees of Humanities was relabeled Employees of Artistry in 1975. The Ramanathan Academia of Excellent Artistry, centered at Ramanathan College in Maruthanarmadam, was taken over by the Jaffna Campus on 1 Dec 1975. The Employees of Technology moved to Thirunelvely in July 1978 and the Jaffna College website was came back to its former entrepreneurs the Jaffna Diocese of the Cathedral of Southern Native indian. The Employees of Medication was established on 7 Aug 1978 with its platform at the Ayurvedic Medical center in Kaithady.

The Universities Act No. 16 of 1978 drastically changed university education in Sri Lanka. The School of Sri Lanka was eliminated and its six grounds (Colombo, Peradeniya, Sri Jayewardenepura, Kelaniya, Moratuwa and Jaffna) were each raised to separate, separate colleges in their own right. A gazette was released on 22 Dec 1978 developing the School of Jaffna with effect from 1 Jan 1979.

The Employees of Medication was moved to Thirunelvely almost 30 years ago. Growth of a new collection, college student center and humanities prevent started almost 30 years ago but were stopped due to the municipal war. The Siddha area of the Institution of Natural Medication was moved from the School of Colombo to the School of Jaffna in This summer 1984. The partly finished collection started performing in 1986.

The escalation of hostilities between the Native indian Serenity Keeping Power and the insurgent Freedom Lions of Tamil Eelam in delayed 1987 seriously impacted the university. The university structures and devices experienced comprehensive harm. Individuals and academic/non-academic staff were also murdered.During the delayed 1980s/early 90's, when most of the Jaffna peninsula such as Jaffna town was under LTTE management, the university experienced regular antenna bombings, lack of essential products due to the financial obstruction, lack of educational staff many of whom had left overseas and a common interference of university life due the regular curfews.

The university was given acceptance in 1985 to set up a Employees of Farming in Kilinochchi. Growth of a new developing in Kilinochchi started in 1986 but was discontinued later due to the municipal war. In Oct 1989 acceptance was given to set up a Employees of Technological innovation in Kilinochchi but the municipal war also avoided this from being applied. The Employees of Farming started performing in Dec 1990 at structures from the Local Farming Research and Growth Centre and the Area Training Centre of Division of Farming in Kilinochchi.

In Oct 1995, as the Sri Lankan army released a army unpleasant to regain the Jaffna peninsula, almost the entire inhabitants of the Valikamam region left to other areas of the peninsula and the Vanni. The university's management was moved to the Employees of Farming in Kilinochchi. Most of the university's devices and furniture at Thirunelvely was missing during the lack. The university's management came back to Thirunelvely in 1996 after the army had recaptured most of the peninsula such as Jaffna town.The escalation of hostilities in the Vanni in 1996 triggered serious interruption to the Employees of Farming which was compelled to shift several times. The School Authorities made the decision to shift the faculty to Jaffna and in Aug 1997 studies re-commenced at the faculty's new property in Jaffna.

A gazette was released on 26 Goal 1997 improving the Northern Area Associated School College (NPAUC) in Vavuniya to the Vavuniya Campus of the School of Jaffna. The NPAUC had been established in 1991 to offer programs in statistical sciences, accounting and finance. The Vavuniya Campus had two ability - the Employees of Used Technology and Employees of Company Research - each with two divisions. In 1999 the Employees of Control Research and Company was designed from areas of the Employees of Artistry. The Employees of Graduate college student Research was also designed in the same year.

Construction of a new developing for the Employees of Farming at Ariviyal Nagar, Kilinochchi started after the end of the municipal war during 2009. The school desires to move to Ariviyal Nagar in 2013. In Apr 2011 the university's us senate accepted the organization of a Employees of Technological innovation in Kilinochchi next to the Employees of Farming. The first group of learners are required to be confessed in Sept 2012.
